Even if say only 500k players were actually competent itd still be tough for the average person. Gaming is extremely easy on the body so people can practice 100 hours a week for months or years on end. I read that pros acrually do play that much too. Gaming is prob one of the few hobbies that have people actually hitting that 10k hour mark of practice to become a master. This isnt possible in some of the more demanding hobbies due to wear and tear on the body. I do think winning olympic gold in even a niche sport is wayy more respectable than being the best in some popular game. Even if say only 500k players were actually competent itd still be tough for the average person. Gaming is extremely easy on the body so people can practice 100 hours a week for months or years on end. I read that pros acrually do play that much too. Gaming is prob one of the few hobbies that have people actually hitting that 10k hour mark of practice to become a master. This isnt possible in some of the more demanding hobbies due to wear and tear on the body. I do think winning olympic gold in even a niche sport is wayy more respectable than being the best in some popular game.
