my son can't sleep in his crib and i dont blame him. doctors say KEEP THEM ALONE, FLAT, AND FOR FUCK SAKE KEEP PILLOWS AND BLANKETS AWAY FROM THEM HOLY SHIT. i can't even fucking sleep like that!

and, i guess i get it? but i dont? because yes SIDS is horrible. but no one understands it, and everything keeps calling infants suffocating in their sleep SIDS. so is SIDS caused by suffocation? doctors say no, sids is not suffocation. so why do they keep bringing it up!

also related is co-sleeping. doctors will say "if you sleep with your baby, YOULL KILL EM! YOULL ROLL OVER, AND SMOTHER HIM SEE THE DATA SAYS IT HAPPENS!" but then you read the reports and they A) included parents who were drunk or high as shit when they slept with their kids and B) included couches as a bed?

but go ask your parents right now, especially if youre a POC. they'll probably tell you yeah you slept with them. hell my mother in law told my wife she put her at the end of the bed (i mean i wont do that lol)

so CE, here's a pro-parenting tip by a dad of a 5 day year old: don't get drunk and sit on your kid.

I have that same snuggle me. My baby hated it. I only used it for naps though. Its meant for supervised sleep only. There is still a risk a baby can move to the side and suffocate.

I know there are lots of parents that advocate for safe co sleeping but I just couldnt risk it. I just always made sure that as soon as she fell asleep she was down in her bassinet so she didnt get too used to my arms. We do have contact naps here and there but generally shes laid down to sleep somewhere safe.

and i think thats fair. i think its about risk, and not what doctors make it seem like it is.

healthy baby, no complications, full term, etc. little risk.

other people can't say the same, so yeah be cautious

but its not like babies will instrictively grab a pillow in their sleep and smother themselves to death

Has nothing to do with how healthy your baby is. Infants arent able to move something thats suffocating them, like a blanket for example. They arent able to roll out of the way of things. Also parents can and do roll on top of their babies. There are ways to make co sleeping safer from what I understand. But again has nothing to do with healthy baby or not.

Babies are squishy so even if you're careful, you still have to acknowledge just how deadly even basic surroundings are to them. You have to watch everything. It's worse when they are toddlers, crawling and grabbing things and trying to eat a Lego piece.

I don't see how any of that was wrong. She was just saying there's always a risk and it's true. She's not saying it'll definitely happen but as a parent you always have to be aware of these things.

I dont think TC cares.

TC is trying to use their childs safety to inflame people and get attention.

Huh not sure why you got offended at that but ok. Didnt meant to come off as judgmental. Im well aware that parents are able to safely cosleep. But they usually advocate for things like no blankets or pillows, etc. for the reasons I mentioned above.

And my daughter is getting her vaccines per schedule.

But Ive had my feelings that most of what you post is bullshit for some time now. Have at it.

My daughter is 4 months old, she slept in the bed with us from 1 to 2 months old, she would literally sleep like 5 minutes in the bassinet and wake up so we did what we had to do to get sleep.

Once she made it to 2 months or so she started sleeping more or less through the night, since then shes been sleeping in her crib like a champ.

My coworker's 7 month still sleeps in bed with mom. She's going to start putting him in a bed next her though, then eventually his own room. She says she still wakes up to see if he's still breathing lol. That never even occurred to me that a parent would have to think about. I'd suck as a parent. I'd go crazy.

What's crazy is that there's a whole bunch of faux medical grade monitors designed to detect a baby's heart rate and O2 levels in their blood and alert you if anything off. They're crazy expensive and tell you they don't even really work but people buy em.
