Yeah, if you're familiar with Seven Samurai/The Magnificent Seven, it's pretty obvious.

I don't think I've ever seen A Bugs Life. I saw Ants though lol.

I might check it out sometime since I've seen Seven Samurai a couple times.

As you probably guessed, although the setup is similar, there are stark difference:

Unlike in Seven Samurai, the bugs who are assembled to take care of the village are frauds, they're not legitimate fighters. So, that's part of the story, the fact that they have to own up to their falsehood.

Disney still could have done better, we see warriors in other media, this movie could have made a funny take on it where they actually were fighters just unconventional ones but still badass.

Literally watched A Bug's Life yesterday. I dunno if it's just cause bugs work in the same way, but it seemed like it was about what Killer Mike been telling us. We gotta kill our masters. :3. We let them go kick back and have fun times then swing around and benefit off all the hard work of the lil guy. When we out number them 100 to 1.

To see how many works and other people he inspired is crazy but the man had a bold vision and we still have it resonate today.

It's not 1:1, but the fact that it's also "bandits" who will come after "the next harvest" to take the villagers' food really cements it

Pixar did it but with a twist. Instead of just straight up fighting, they did a comedic thing as well as to try and highlight flick's ingenuity with the whole fake bird thing which I think is better to show kids creative problem solving rather just straight up fighting and brawling.

It is amazing. If you don't wanna sit through a black and white Japanese movie, at least watch the original Magnificent Seven.

All movies made past 1970 are based on Seven Samurai. And the few that aren't are based on the Dirty Dozen.

So many Shakespeare stories I've always wanted to experience in some way or form. There's like, 8 different Henrys and he's written a story on almost all of them and I wonder what they're like
