If you feel the need to point out she isn't actually 60, you're missing the point.

The vaccine is only meant to be available in NZ at the moment for people who are high-risk, which she's not, or people over 60 which she actually isn't, she's 41 IIRC - definitely early 40s anyway. She made a huge public spectacle of getting her second shot today.

Worth noting especially that the whole reason it's not avialable more widely yet is because of just how bad her government is bungling the rollout. I guess the one saving grace is the opposition would probably do even worse, but NZers seriously need to realise that we're not America, we can vote third-party and have it actually mean something under our system.

I feel like being the PM necessitates meeting with a shitload of people on a daily basis, so I would consider that "high risk."

She has zero contact with border facilities or anywhere else she's likely to actually be exposed to a case. NZ's situation is (at least at present) nothing like the US's or Europe's; most of the time we have zero cases except in quarantine at the border.

People living in areas near quarantine facilities are at far, far higher risk than her.

EDIT: Not to mention, "high risk" for the purpose of NZ's rollout is in terms of high risk of severe illness / death / other complications, not high risk of exposure. It was first of all rolled out to people who work at the border, but that was because they were the most likely route the virus would use to enter the country, so it was intended to reduce the risk of transmission that way. Ardern herself has no comparable risk to that.

No, she's great at PR. Her government have done an excellent job at quashing covid outbreaks when they occur, but that's pretty much her only notable achievement - and even in that, she has an utter inability to admit when her government makes mistakes. The most well known example was during the outbreak in February-March, where she publicly shamed a fast food worker for "not self-isolating when she was meant to". It quickly emerged that this worker was explicitly told they were not required to self-isolate, and yet Ardern doubled down on it, going as far as to imply that that worker's actions were the reason that lockdown had to be brought back into effect (even though the case that raised concerns and lead to that was from a completely different family).

She came into government promising to address the housing crisis and NZ's awful child poverty rate - both of these things have gotten much, much worse under her. The vaccine rollout has been utterly shambolic. Just in general, if you look at actual results in anything other than community spread of covid - and keep in mind, she was PM for two years before covid even was discovered - she's utterly awful. She only seems good if you ignore the actual tangible results and just listen to her PR spin instead.

And the sad thing is, with all of the above, she's still one of our better PMs. We just don't tend to have much quality in the PM department in general.
