I think the cut-off for that is like, '65...I was going to say. '64, the year Kennedy was shot. Silver coins stand out if you are looking for them....and if you are not sure you can always look at the coins side. Fun fact, Coin Star Machines, last I knew, rejected them. --- "Whatever the reason you're on Mars, I'm glad you're there, and I wish I was with you." ~Carl Sagan. You are correct... I always think of that because when The Beatles came to America it was '64, and there was a wtf factor about The States. Like 8 years ago, I went with a group of guys to a Wolverines game at Michigan as part of a bachelor party. To my surprise, everything at the concessions has a price that either ends in $.00 or $.50, and all cent change was done with half dollars.
It was probably the first time Id seen one in over a decade. Neat idea. Keeps transactions simple, and the half dollar felt like a novelty. Shotgunnova posted... I once got a half-penny as change from McDonald's. When I was in high school, I worked at a grocery store as a cashier. Someone paid with a $2 bill at one point, so I had it in my register. As the day went on, I ran low on singles, and asked a manager to rebalance my register. Before it could be done, I ran out of singles, and I tried to give a customer change with the $2 bill. The person raged on me for trying to rip them off with fake money. It took other customers in line to calm the person down and convince him that it was legit. --- Live action Hungry Hungry Hippos though, now that was a sport. ~Aeon Azuran ... Copied to Clipboard!
