You see at least one pair of exposed breasts in a sex scene, and there's the part where they all flash the English their junk.

The 90s really were built different >_>

The MPAA is weird. I wish they were replaced.

I mean, that's how it should be though. Higher rating for violence, not for nudity.

It's got other weird rules. For example PG-13 can/could use the f-word once.
The movie Planes, Trains, and Automobiles isn't all that bad, but it's rated R solely because of the rental car scene.

It still flummoxes me that Braveheart won Best Picture

Cause it's an amazing movie?

The nominees that year were.....

Braveheart
Apollo 13
Babe
Il Postino: The Postman
Sense and Sensibility

For me a toss-up between Braveheart and Apollo 13

Fun fact: The movie released before Canada was somewhat unified (it still technically isn't!) when it comes to movie ratings, and in Quebec it was rated 13+ and Manitoba and Nova Scotia rated essentially 14+.

even though braveheart isn't perfect, it did a ton to influence both pop culture and cinematography

even with the battles, the epic scale while maintaining realism, wasn't something common back in 1995. i remember comments of how it was "so realistic" and i think it did a lot to bring that savage element back into film

apollo 13 was a nice space movie though

Yeah, I watched it last night and the battle scenes reminded me of "The King" (from two years ago).

Obviously Braveheart was a big influence on that (plus the fact those two movies take place within 100 years of each other lol).

Also apparently the extras they used were actually rival regiments who didn't like each other very much irl, so they were legit beating the shit out of each other >_>

Oh no

Like, it literally starts by getting the year of Alexander III's death wrong and calling Edward I a pagan, and it doesn't get any better from there

It was only considered "bad" enough to be a 15 in the UK. It's an enjoyable film, if about as historically accurate as modern planes in Roman times.

It was during Post-AP exam garbage time so the teacher just needed to fill time. He would regularly comment on the historical fuck ups.
