Gonna be honest. I think it wouldn't have made much difference other than less people dying due to the more severe symptoms by being unvaccinated.

However, many people who got the vaccine are coming up positive.
Delta would have got to us either way.

What would have actually made a difference is if everyone kept wearing masks and being 6 feet apart and not acting like getting vaccinated meant covid was over.

CDC really messed up.

if we're only looking at america, sure. because covid has huge populations of un-vacinated people all throughout the "global south" to spread in and evolve. but it would have been much slower, because it takes time for new variants to make their way around the globe and viruses aren't likely to evolve to beat a vaccine if they're exclusively in a population without the vaccine acting as a pressure against them.

but lets not split hairs, shit didn't magically get worse because the CDC said vacinated people could go without masks. the dunderfucks who refuse to vaccinate were already refusing to wear masks, and they're the ones that'll actively spread the delta variant.
