4k is better than 1080p period.

well

unless you're sitting back like 20 feet. or you have a 40 inch tv.

i literally dont know what good HDR looks like because even though my tv has HDR, its shit and i literally can't tell the difference. and all the tvs are the store have all the picture settings set to BLAST LIGHT that its pointless to try to figure out.

For intense viewing of a program (like, you're solely focused on what you're watching while relaxing/kicking back at home in front of the tv), it makes a huge difference in level of viewing quality. For passive watching, like of a sports game on a tv behind the counter in a bar, you will likely not notice any change in quality at all, I'm guessing. And honestly at that level, 720p (for the tv...some of those lcd's are still around) vs 1080p might not strike your notice either.

It is very noticeable, I just upgraded to my first HDR 4K TV last week.

1080p is looking at a clear picture on a tv. 4K is like looking at a painting.

bad hdr is worse than sdr, 4k>1080p obviously.

I don't really trust most TVs under like $700 to do HDR well, HDR needs your TV to be able to hit at least 1000nits peak brightness for it to be actually worthwhile, otherwise it's just going to display a washed out and generally darker image.

Sports are broadcast in 720p, so any improvement on a 4K tc is purely massive upscaling

For the resolution of a PC, it's much better. Much larger screen. A lot of tabs for browsing.

For the videos and movies, with a good signal, it's crazy awesome.

More and more events are in 4K, though not a majority. This is the first time the Olympics are in 4K, for example
