Camping isn't really my thing. I like hiking and campfires and being outdoors, but then would rather go back to a bed. But this is one thing my gf really wanted to do and she doesn't usually ask for much. 8 of us going.

It probably will be fun but my PS5 arrives today, and I would rather be playing Miles Morales and Demon's Souls!

Anyway, any campers here? Or any good weekend plans?

I love camping.

I sleep in a hammock with a rain tarp over it. I swear it's some of the best sleep I've had. Even better if it's like 50 degrees at night.

I wish it was 50 degrees! Only getting down to like 76 tonight and sharing a tent with my girlfriend. Sounds good but it will be hot. At least Saturday night will get down in the 60s

Personally 76 is a tad warm for me but it can still be done. The 60's is nice though. I go camping up in the mountains and deep in the woods so it's always 5-8 degrees cooler than the areas around it which makes for good sleeping.

Have fun! I did a lot of camping when I was in my twenties too - while I enjoyed the outdoors sharing time with friends was really the bigger draw. If you haven't, pack a few extra tarps, they always come in handy. The hammock someone suggested is awesome if you are by yourself, there's specially designed camping hammocks that pack up really light and are completely waterproof. Sleeping in one was a big strange at first as you didn't really have anything under you.

Enjoy yourselves! I don't have any plans until early next month, doing some dispersed camping on an island.

My wife and I got into camping a few years ago and we love it.

Do yourself a favor and pick up some fresh corn to roast over an open fire. It's summertime bliss <3

Camping and hiking are just about my favorite things in life and Ive done it in different parts of the world. Just went again last weekend for a small day trip to jump off a 40 ft waterfall. The trail to get there was wild and we had to do some light off-roading on the jeep to find the trail head. Hiking with a group is literally some of the most fun you can have imo. Though Im not much on setting up camp and just chilling all day. I gotta be on the move

Not much advice for such a short trip but bring extra socks!

I think my girlfriend has a few tarps. She is in charge!

She has the tent and goes every summer with this other guy (who has been a friend of both of us for years, long before we were dating), his gf, and a couple other people. I am being dragged into it now :)

It's actually funny, this mutual friend of ours predicted we would end up dating years ago, but neither of us thought it would happen.

Nice, enjoy! We go camping every year but we rent a cabin in a state park. No electricity or running water, so still pretty rustic, but we have beds. :P

Have you ever made, we call them zip packs, where you put a bunch of food veggies, meat, etc. in some aluminum foil and place the package directly in the fire/on the coals to cook?

That's awesome. I do love hiking a lot, and I know we plan to do that during the day tomorrow, but it is hot so might not last long. There is also a beach and a lake nearby, so that might end up being more of the day. I kinda hate the middle of summer. I love hiking in the fall the most by far. Even the winter. 20 degrees through the snow is a good workout and you warm up fast.

I've heard those called silver turtles and hobo burgers :p

We did them a few times but always felt it was a bit lazy

Im pretty conditioned to the heat so summer hiking is my favorite. Hard to beat fall views but you cant really do much swimming if its later in the fall. Not a huge fan of winter hiking honestly

Well yeah, jumping in the lake after the hike will be great. I just can't imagine doing a 3 or 4 hour hike in 90 degrees, like I do in the fall.

Try hiking to a frozen waterfall in the winter, where the ice looks blue. Gorgeous

Not sure if thin waterfalls turn blue or not. The one I go to is one that, while only about 50 feet high, is wide with a lot of flow.

That'll work too.

Edibles are great. Especially if you're not a big smoker. It hits you way harder if you don't have a high tolerance.

Oh, it hits me. I rarely do it.

And yeah, I don't smoke other than a cigar with the guys every couple weeks.

I have some rain gear and an opsack for bears coming in the mail, but apart from that everything seems good. I might get a hobo-roll for extra clothes but that's a tossup.

Keeping this topic alive though because trip reports are fun.

I think I'm alright with going with the 75l, seems there is room for everything.

Not too much to report. Still here. Last night was hot and then the rain last night was sideways and fell on us in the middle of the night. But otherwise a lot of fun. Went hiking and hung out at the "beach" today. About to build a bonfire and have bourbon.

Had another epiphany last night about how I do think I want to marry my gf, so that is really good
