I'm recently on buproprion. Gives me some headaches, and slightly extends my usual insomnia, but it's really nice to just stop hating myself constantly. I can do shit without needing to maintain a rigid schedule, lest everything fall apart at the slightest deviance.

Much needed topic! To those on meds, wishing you best of luck, I know it takes a while sometimes.

One of the many lessons of 2021 is "It's okay to not be okay"... it's never a weakness asking for help.

Yup. And "this too shall pass".

Does anyone else here have OCD? I'm curious what experience people have with the intrusive thoughts side of it.

COVID, heart problems, depression and anxiety. Already on so many meds and I talked to my psych yesterday and all he does is put me on more. Now it's two months before I can get in to see him again.

But mostly it's my heart problems and being stuck inside this summer that's really getting to me. No matter how hard I look after myself I always end up getting fucked by something I was born with.

Wow that definitely sounds frustrating, especially the feeling of things being hung around your neck before you were even born :(

My sister dealt with trichotillomania since she was around 13. Started around the eyes and progressed to her head. Parents got her a wig in high school, which was good for hiding her bald spots, but it didnt help the bullying. It got better once she graduated, but she was better at hiding it too. Didnt really kick it until she shaved bald a couple months ago and regrew her hair.

oooof. Thankfully mine is pretty minor and easy to hide. I'm super self concious though, I feel like I look like an addict walking around feeling up and down my arm or picking at hairs, some of which are sores.

Just more of the same.
I spend so much money on meds and sleep clinic stuff and gyms that in theory should make me happy but none of it works. I feel like everything is a placebo that I'm too smart (or too dumb) for.

And spending all that money keeps me from saving up enough to move out from my shitty folks' place, which is probably the real reason I'm depressed.

I don't have the motivation to better myself in any meaningful way :/

It's definitely frustrating when you muster enough energy/money etc to finally tackle something and it doesn't seem to produce any results. Do you reward yourself for trying? As cliche as it sounds, effort needs to be recognized!

That's okay! Connect it to your efforts though. Put up a list of six small things you want to do over the next two/three days. Mark rewards you'll give yourself for getting two things done, getting four, and for getting all six done. I mean small tasks like walking outside, returning a friend's text/ call, or putting away laundry.

Also are you seeing a therapist?

I asked because you've already done the hardest part (recognized areas and tried to make some changes)! If there is a university or college near you with a counseling program there's likely going to be a clinic where students overseen by professors provide therapy. They usually use a sliding scale fee so it might be just $5 or something. You could also Google "community service board" in your county - these are state funded mental health centers that provide low/no cost services. There's a bit of a longer wait though and not every one offers individual therapy, alot have shifted to group therapy.

Diagnosed with GAD and social anxiety (also depression but Im past that) in 2017. Shouldve gotten help MANY years ago but yeh.
With help and meds I got better and the tools to handle my anxiety. Been meds free since like late fall last year.

My GAD is acting up atm and I feel worry and anxiety in my body, its like a dull anxiety hard to explain. I use my tools but its hard sometimes, feeling it just sucks ass.
