I'm an atheist, live in a big city in a blue state and have diverse friends, but we complain about PC culture all the time, we joke about how our favorite movies from the 90's and 2000's couldn't get made today and how nothing can be funny anymore. At the same time, I hate Republican culture and could never live in one of those boring, ugly small towns that voted for Trump. Economically, I do think Republicans are right on the issues but culturally, I can't stand them.

Annoying. The complaining about PC culture will always get me searchin for a reason to walk away. Having an opinion or 2 about it is one thing and could potentially be valid, but when you have a whole conversation around it...naw.

Also, Republicans lean into economics that allow the white community to keep hoarding as much money as possible away from minorities. So that's a red flag. They're trying to keep as much from their crippling headstart that they can. It's disgusting.

Rewarding investment and hard work makes more sense to me than the "make everything free" people.

I see you adapted their "be super dramatic to appear not so bad in comparison" tactics. Almost nobody wants everything to be free, you knob. That's never a risk.

I can't speak for everyone, but personally, I've always been more annoyed looking at my tax bill during the times when I had low income, than during the times I had higher income. It's a lot more annoying when it's money that you really could've used for important stuff, than it is when it just means a bit less spare cash.

Usually its people who are self employed or have other streams of income who are most bothered by taxes. It makes a big difference when youre paying quarterly installments as opposed to having the taxes withheld from your paycheck.

I can't say having not been in that situation (at least not enough so that I needed to give a fuck about taxes rather than taking a "they're not going to come after me for two or three dollars, so fuck it" attitude), but I'd think if I were making enough money that way, I'd be taking out the tax component and setting it aside as it comes in, which ultimately means - aside from having to make a bit more effort - it's not really any different from the PAYE scenario.

It can be very difficult to estimate how much taxable income you have. Its not as simple as setting aside gross receipts. Theres also the psychological component of my making payments of several thousand or more every quarter as opposed to having it withheld, where the taxes are out of sight out of mind.
