If you're looking for something specific let me know, but I,very got a few general ones

The Elementals and Blackwater by Michael McDowell, two of the best pieces of southern Gothic horror I know

The Open Curtain by Brian Evenson, a Mormon horror story that requires no real knowledge prior, and one of the scariest stories I've ever read

Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
The Rising by Brian Keene
The Only Good Indians by Stephen Grahm Jones
N0S4A2, Horns, and Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill

Sadly I actually don't know many for this, I'll fish for suggestions though. There is The Luminous Dead, which I enjoyed though it has some issues. Amazing horror though, especially good at getting the claustrophobia.

You got a recommendation of a good horror book that was turned into a good movie and could we cut out the middleman and just recommend the movie?

Well The Ring and Annihilation are both better movies than books
