No face masks, people allowed around each other's houses, cinemas open, no social distancing. I think this is a very good thing. The majority of adults in the UK have had at least one shot, and many adults have had two shots.

If you think you're not gonna need your mask tomorrow then you're in for a disappointment.

Most places are saying they're still going to require them (and rightly so).

When the fucking health secretary has come out and said he has Covid after two jabs, the "many people have had one" argument is a proper shit one, too.

Most people ain't gonna give a shit though. A lot were pissed off at the restrictions as is, but with more and more MP's breaking lockdown rules as time went by, some just went "Fuck this, they didn't follow the rules, why should I?"...and then Matt Hancock, who stated that people should not even be able to visit dying relatives was found to have broken them himself with his bit on the side.

Plus, when Sajid Javid announced he had covid and him and BJ (such apt initials) would be trialing a 'daily testing' scheme rather than self isolating (apprently they have very recently done a u-turn on this), pretty much the rest of the UK went "So why the fuck are WE bothering then?"

If our leaders aren't gonna follow the same standards they want everyone else to, they'll find people ignoring them - and they genuinely won't understand why, which shows how out of touch they actually are with the public.

It's at the point where everyone I speak to is just gonna pretend like life is back to normal now. Everyone's had enough of the restrictions and duplicity of those in power.

My wife is classified as extremely clinically vulnerable because she suffers from a couple of autoimmune disorders, and although we've both been double jabbed there's data to suggest that the vaccines are less effective for immunocompromised people. So at a time when infection rates are skyrocketing, with Johnson determined to take off all the brakes (because decisions are being driven by politics, not by science), "freedom day" hasn't dawned for us and we have to accept it may never dawn.

There are roughly four million people in the UK who are in my wife's predicament, and Johnson's abandoning all pretence of responsibility for their lives by dumping it in the hands of every selfish turd who simply can't be arsed to give a shit about anyone else. And believe me, the UK is one vast toilet bowl full to the brim with selfish turds.

And like SystemEgo said, Johnson's cronies represent appalling failures of leadership by example and people are understandably bitter and resentful about the blatant "one law for us, one law for them" attitude.

Sounds like people just want let the virus rip through the population and cull those who are unfortunate.

Meanwhile in a lot of the asian countries, people live with masks and hardly have any cases and people dont even need to get vaccinated in a hurry.

This is the real difference between western and eastern people.

Sadly and sickeningly, that observation is bang on the nail. For the last few weeks, if not months, public concern has focused almost exclusively on whether or not Brits' fundamental human right to go abroad and get pissed on a foreign holiday will be respected.

Doesn't help to have a populist PM. Nothing at all sus about the timing of Portugal being moved off the amber travel list before the CL final in Porto, before being put back on it shortly after said final.

For all of Johnson's pseudo-Churchillian bullshit bluster, it's all too easy to imagine that had he been PM in January 1941 he'd have lifted blackout restrictions because they didn't sit well with his sense of "traditional English liberties".
