Honestly, it's great. Jokes aside, it's a net positive. By creating a demand, it pushes the need to develop safer, faster space travel. At least their money goes to a good use.

Some people mastered narcissism. They don't give a shit. Or they'll convince themselves what they do is for everyone in the end and purposely avoid thinking pass the surface level of that. You don't have to tune into people suffering and they just don't.

Been talk for years about having passenger flights like this.

Owning a car, a computer, going on cross country flights used to be signs of wealth. Space travel is now but eventually won't be. Probably not in my lifetime though.

They're not mutually exclusive. They can have separate projects or foundations focused on supporting their communities. Plus, space exploration will drive innovation which will have a legitimate trickle down effect on the regular populace. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain from these guys investing in space exploration.

Space is one of the most important things that humanity is investing in. Eventually we will want to find new planets to colonize. Earth's resources are finite. It doesn't matter how much we try to be sustainable, eventually we're going to run out of resources. Future generations are going to thank us for starting now rather than later.

I think we're all guilty of that to some level. But a lot of us are in the position of the defeated and not the ones who lucked up along with their very respectable drive and determination. What I mean by that is plenty have their drive and determination but never hit the jackpot. Im not trying to take away that a whole lot of work and smarts went into it. It's just the difference between that luck hitting and not shouldn't have such lopsided results. Especially when the billionaires do everything in their power to make sure your luck doesn't interfere with them making as much money possible off their own lucky break decades ago. They will try to crush anybody who is trying to come up the same way they did if they can. Once you get up there you seem to get so detached from the people who would of once been your respected peers. And thanks to how capitalistic our country is, people actually respect this.

Now, bring on the one line responses like "Check this guy out lol".

You wouldn't send the world's politicians up, because it's still too dangerous for us to travel in space that way. But subsidizing some companies and having their public figureheads go up instead, on our behalf? I could see them doing that instead.

Think about what kind of future it opens up for the species in its entirety if the space race begins for real and we start automating resource extraction/assembly out of rocks flying by and other planets.

I'm sure the people mad about it donate a percentage of their pay or time to local charities that need support far more than they need you to have a new smartphone or PS5. /s

They're doing what just about everyone else does: thinking about themselves and what they want, just on a grander scale.
