What a terrible fucking game. Also absolutely destroyed our xbox 360 controllers because of how you'd need to spin them to get more speed. My brother would palm the control stick and just go ham.

Why couldn't sonic just run? Isnt he supposed to be fast?

Sonic Mania was good... Because it was made by a ROM hacker instead of Sonic Team and now they're too embarrassed to ever hire him again.

I was a sonic kid growing up. I had a sega genesis mainly and my 1st real games were Sonic 1-3. Such a shame seeing what happened to my lad.

Sonic trilogy (and CD) are GOAT. I prefer them to Mario & what all by a longshot. The OVA is one of my favorite anime ever. Ever.

Adventure 1 was amazing. 2 is a very very good game, but ultimately..... introduced elements which became prevalent & popular & well..... we got stuff like Werewolf Sonic, Shadow the Shooter game, and whatever the hell happened with Sonic 4. If there was one game I was willing to be lenient with to see it develop, it was Sonic 4. But they dropped the ball. As if it was a huge shocker that what they unleashed on the fans wasnt popular. Even people I interacted with who hated Episode 1 were willing to give it a shot until the end. They came out with nothing. Only after all interest had thoroughly faded, they decided to release more content. Lol!

Other than that... the hold-over games became mainstay games & Sonic fully embraced its DBZ in the worst ways.

and the art is awful IMO. The whole redesign fiasco for the movie points to that. Original guy was adorable..........

and would have ended up looking like anime adventure Sonic by the end of the movie anyway. But people yknow

I actually like sonic riders a lot. 100% it and and still play it every so often to this day. Not perfect at all but it's a decently fun game. Really wish it had a bigger track count though.

Imo Sonic Heroes was the last decent 3d sonic game. Shadow was the actual breaking point for me. Series was dead before Sonic 06. That was like a failed necromancy.

But yeah mania was great and generations was fine.

Sonic Unleashed is amazing...if you have a save file with the game already cleared. The medals are overlong Werehog stages ruin it, but if you can just select all the daytime speed stages, they're incredible. The best sensation of speed I've ever seen in a video game (Better than generations). I boot it up randomly when I feel like a roller coaster.

Only good Sonic games imo are Sonic 1-3K, Mania, Sonic 1 (MS/GG), Triple Trouble, Pocket Adventure, Advance Series, Rush Series (I count Colors DS), and Sonic Adventure. SA2 was okay but nowhere near SA1.

I remember playing Sonic Riders on the PC back when I was in Jr High School. I recall enjoying it. Can't remember if I ever played the sequel. I don't remember it being on PC. Or maybe it was the other way around and the sequel was on PC.

The last great Sonic game in my opinion was Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. Or I guess Sonic Mania. But that feels more like a ROM hack. But I seriously hate the boost gameplay. Feels a little clunky to me. I would kill for a game made in the Sonic Adventure style. I don't even care if they go the route of 1 and make it open world or go the route of 2 and make it stage based. Just give us Sonic Adventure 3 with a chao garden damn it.

Nintendo could buckle down on Final Fantasy, Metroid, Sonic, G1 Pokmon, & Legend of Zelda and Id be a happy camper.

Yeah I enjoyed Sonic Riders. I guess it's awkward and hard to get used to but it's very rewarding once you get gud.

I absolutely cant stand that game lol. And I say this as someone who is extremely tolerant of Sonic games.

Every time I tried to get into it, I just didnt enjoy it.

because it's a hoverboard race, just like how he doesn't run in a vehicular race
like, it's the most neutral setting you can put these characters in so you can allow them to go fast without having to do any ridiculous scaling stuff
