I'm talking about something like Super Mario World where you take turns and share progress, or even the old fashioned way of passing the controller on every death. Theoretically, one player could beat every level while the other dies repeatedly. Do you count it as having personally beaten the game? Does it depend how much you contributed/how hard you got carried?

Just curious how most people feel about this!

I feel like if you literally died every level and your partner cleared it for you, it doesn't really count as you beating the game.

But I also don't really care.

I count watching a game if I paid attention to it most of the time, at least for the purpose of posting my thoughts in the Beat a Game topic.

to take the bait, i voted yes.

technically, i think it depends on whether you're actively participating with your co op partner. either strategizing with them, giving them advice while playing, or they're watching you make your mistakes while you play and learning from it

if it's someone that's already beaten the game 5 times and isn't even looking while you take your turn, sure that's a weird edge case that doesn't count, but that's the exception that proves the rule
