But basically you just have to prove that your ancestor you're tracing back to Italy (who was born there) never revoked their Italian citizenship. If they didn't, it passed to their children and so on, and as long as nobody revoked it along the way you can claim it. Need birth, marriage, death certificates for everyone down the line I think. In my case it'd be my great-great-grandpa, so a lot of time and effort (and money yeah) if I go through with it. This is to be noted, as many of the institutes & figures I follow in my life are not supporting either end of it. I tend to listen to them because our views tend to match. As they continue to do so.
