Hiding from your home life at work is not a badge of honor. Having a mental fucking breakdown at your desk is not a badge of honor. And we are much more than our professional identities. Someone asked me a few months ago who are you? I started to rattle off my job and title and she said: No. Who are YOU? Changed my perspective. Its the backward and exploitative culture that derives from imperialism and has extended itself into systemic culture. It us now considered the norm at many firms to work 12 to 18 hr days. I've already given 4 and a half years of my life working 2 jobs working 70 hours a week and missed out on life and my nephew growing up and I dont brag or gloat about it it's just something I had to do to save money. Giving up your free time just to make more money isn't a way to live I have 1st hand experience with this.
