I was outside in my pool with a group of friends (12 total), playing no music. We started hanging out and swimming at around 7pm after work, and by 9pm, my neighbors said we were too loud and they threatened to call the cops.

Does your HOA or city have any sort of noise ordinance? If not, she can fuck off.

I'm a huge stickler for excess noise, specifically bass-heavy stuff which vibrates my skull through walls. But if it's just yall talking, then yeah you're fine. Let her call the cops, but I would make it a point to lower the volume a bit around 10pm, that's usually a standard quiet time. Especially if they have kids, shit can wake up kids and probably be a nightmare to get them back to bed.

You're definitely not in the wrong yet, but just be sure to tread lightly because being on shitty terms with neighbors is a bad thing.

Is your neighborhood generally quiet? If you're the only ones making racket on a regular basis then I do kinda see her point, but again, only if it extends past 10pm.
