tips would be appreciated.
planning on running a mage. full healing or some healing and debuffs? party recommendations? Skill priorities? I don't have the mod that lets you respec unfortunately, but at least I can skip the Fade. --- 'I saw my future today. I'm pretty rusty with that game, haven't played in ages, but...
You'll probably want full healing with the Spirit Healer tree in addition to the Creation-Healing tree. Alistair's probably going to be your best friend, equip him well so he can properly tank. Have Leliana pick locks and either Morrigan or Wynne to sling spells next to you and you'll be all set. Cone of Cold + Stonefist is one of my go-to combos to OHKO mooks, but there might be better alternatives for Nightmare. Debuffs might actually be a good idea in that difficulty, but honestly I never used the Entropy spells so I can't tell you which would be the most useful. --- Link meets Fire Emblem in CYOA: Tales of Elibe! Blood mage and Arcane Warrior specializations are both powerful and synergize well with each other
For party: typically, I use Alistair as a tank, Leliana as a ranged rogue, Wynne as a healer, and myself as a damage-dealer mage. You can also make it work with three mages and an archer by using Arcane Warrior to tank For spells: Fireball, Cone of Cold, Stonefist for combos, the first three glyph spells, Heal, the blood mage spells, Mana Clash if you can stomach needing to sacrifice 4 points to get it. Haste is a nice bonus, but not necessary. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

i don't consider spending 4 talent points in order to be able to one shot mages a sacrifice.

Its basically the same character. If you have dlc the character you get in that one, is your best choice. Best tank in the game imo. --- The embrace of the Dark is gentle.
