I remember when it first came out and literally everyone was playing it, then like 75% of the playerbase fell off after a month or two, but it was still a thing like a year later

Is it still a thing, I never hear anyone talking about it anymore

My best friend still plays it all the fucking time. I don't get it.

Also, I feel like I read somewhere recently that Shigeru Miyamoto still plays.

I gave up after gen 2 hit and then tried it again like 3 years ago but it just doesnt hold my interest. Its dumbed down Pokmon so like who cares? The only good things about it were the brief time after it released and being able to get some exercise in.

Uhh yeah. While it's not back to the crazy level of the first few months, it still has like over 150 million players and actually makes more money now than at release. I've been playing casually pretty much since it released, though I've never actually spent money on it. Pretty easy to do when my apartment has 2 stops and a gym I can spin without leaving.

Well now you can transfer Pokemon to Sword/Shield so it's an easy way to get Legendaries and Shinies.
