Feel like Im at my lowest of lows right now. Everything has gone down hill over the past year or so. Lost my job, apartment, car, etc and Ive struggled to recover. Im just using this topic at a means to blog.

Anyone here struggle financially? Maybe not to the point of bankrupt but stories would help-ish.

I haven't. I'm not a capitalistic person, so I don't spend money on things I don't need. I also don't drive, so that frees up a lot of money as well.

Sounds terrible, though. Seems like there is a lot of jobs available out there right now, so you should be good to go.

I went through all that after a breakup, and I was employed by my (sort of) father in law, so that was a mess and it ruined my one major reference. Still recovering with a variety of odd jobs, but for now I just pay rent and save up for school and psych health.

Bankruptcy should at least give you the opportunity to claw your way out. So it's better than just continuing what you were doing.

After college I ran into a lot of financial issues. My workplace closed down, had student loans, was paying bills with old savings bonds my grandpa got me in 2nd grade. It's a fucking terrible feeling. I managed to dig myself out by working multiple jobs and pinching pennies. It took a good year or so of that to right myself. Financial instability fucking sucks. I'd rather work 80 hours a week than deal with that feeling.

i recently filed for bankruptcy too. years of just bad fucking luck with work, then covid finally made me realize that i need to get this debt off my back before i can actually feel like i have control of my life again.

got a good lawyer, filed for chapter 7. next week is my last day that creditors can dispute it and hopefully everything can be discharged.

the only regret i have is that i didn't do this sooner. i dont know why i kept convicing my self that i didn't need to do it. i think it was the social stimga. i mean, hell, people on this board still troll me whenever i say i buy anything because they think filing for bankruptcy is a sign of failure, as if we're not allowed to make mistakes in our lives. i feel bad for those people.

but the good news is that after 5 fucking years of bad luck, my finances have turned around. after filing for bankruptcy, i lucked out and got a great job and all the free money from the government has really been helping.

bankruptcy is a fresh start, and i intend on embracing that fact.

My brother offered me a place to stay for a bit until I can get back on my feet. He has a 2 year old and a 6 month old, Id hate to intrude.

I basically convinced myself for the longest time I didnt want to do it, but you are right, I definitely feel like a failure for even being in this situation. Didnt know a lawyer could help with this though.

I was just saying the only reason why is because I never spend money on anything. Not that you were. I need to think more before I post. I apologize.

That's good to hear. I felt really bad because I think someone else brought it up earlier and I didn't think much of it, and then I got a ToS violation for mocking you. I'm pretty sure I know who it is, though. I just didn't want you to think I was talking shit about you, because that wasn't my intent at all.

Hope things are looking up
