If kids make you irritable and miserable, then I'd say playing a game is less of a waste of time than raising kids. If kids give you purpose and make you feel like you're doing something with your life, then do that and don't piss your time away on games. Games are a waste of time for me because I feel like Im forcing it a lot of the time. Just make sure it doesn't keep you from doing what you have to do then enjoy your hobbies as much as you want. If it interferes with what should be done in your life, then it's a problem. But what should be done is defined differently for every person. But any hobby done too much can have this problem. It's just more common to see it from gaming or watching shows/movies. It can be dangerous in that regard and some people truly go overboard. Its hard to do that with most other hobbies. I get his point, unless you're getting famous and making money streaming it or creating with them, it's not a tangible skill that gives you any kind of advantage in life. And it seems like he's directing the criticism more at kids who do almost nothing but play video games all day. It's basically the opinion of "if what you're doing isn't productive in some way, don't do it" hustler philosophy, which I don't agree with.
