No he was an asshole growing up, and now he's always trying to spread Chinese propaganda to me.

Unless he comes back from the dead, it's definitely stable.

Left over a decade ago, have no idea what happened to him. Don't care either.

My father died from COVID. Growing up, before his father died, he had fewer professional responsibilities. He spent a lot of time with me, hiking, looking for fossils, hunting, or playing basketball. As I got older, Dad had to spend more time and work and had less time to spend time with me. He always tried to be active where he could and we did bond over our shared love of news and current events. But I grew to have some issues feeling like he didn't care about spending time with me.

As I aged, I got over this. We got closer as I got older and I understood his commitment to work was how he showed he cared. I realized I never hurt for the things I needed. Cars, college, apartments, gas, clothes, video games because of his work. He was always around the first person I called in emergenies even though I held stupid teen-angst about him missing track meets or basketball games with me in them.

I really realized all my issues with him were just normal "nobody is perfect" and being a parent is hard sorts of things. I learned to forgive the things about him that chaffed me and learned to love and respect him otherwise.

I really miss him now.
