@LightningAce11 what is he complaining about

Are you trying to say you dont see a rise in market share for plant based meat?
If a CEO says it, then no. Don't believe those degenerate pricks

This is the anti intellectualism of 2021 imo

CEO of meat industry says they forecast more people eating plant substitutes -> he must be lying!

Doesnt even have to make sense. If someone's expertise is from private industry, they must be out to get you, as are all the scientists and experts working for them

No, scientists tend to know what they're talking about. Executives are scum.

Executives are people with the same moral compassas anyone else

And they get their info from scientists/experts

Where do you think the CEO in op got his info from?

Not until its cheaper. Cuz everyone says it is. But its still like double for anything like that at the grocery store
It's already cheaper if you make it yourself. I buy TVP in bulk and get the equivalent of about $1/lb.

It'll most likely make meat more expensive since it will lose its economy of scale advantage.

Will it though? Sure spoiled white kids will buy beyond meat, but are like, muslim, mexican families going to just give up part of their food culture?

Everyone has a price. If meat gets too expensive to afford regularly they're going to reduce the amount they eat. Non-white people have actually cut their meat consumption more than white people have in recent years.

It's funny you mention Mexico. Before the Spanish conquest meat was a rare delicacy.

I think youre treating other cultures as far more monolithic than you are white people

My partners family makes a ton of authentic Mexican dishes since they immigrated from there, and there's actually a ton of vegetarian dishes. Everyone knows dishes like asado and barbacoa, but those aren't getting made every day because meat is expensive while vegetables and beans are not. That's how it's been for just about all of history, as well.

They should just take the hit, maybe try to make living conditions for livestock less abhorrent.

I love eating meat, and most imitations are just thatbad imitations but I dont feel bad for this guy thats how things work.

Make people want to choose your product or deal with it.

I used to think that.

They are making some really good ones nowadays though. Dr Praeger's plant burgers are 10/10. My favorite brand.

I don't think the CEO of Cargill is complaining here, just pointing out the market trend. The company already has its own plant-based product lineup.
