***, an online platform where adult film actors, influencers and celebrities share video clips, photos and messages directly with subscribers for a monthly fee, is reportedly seeking new funding at a valuation above $1bn.

According to Bloomberg, the British startup is working with an adviser who can help it widen its pool of investors and take support from them to become a more mainstream media platform, moving away from its reputation as a place to find pornography in the process.

The website also wants to expand its celebrity base from adult film stars to include a broad range of celebrities and athletes who connect with their fans using the platform.

Among the most popular stars already on the platform are professional boxer Floyd Mayweather, English rugby player Chris Robshaw, rapper Cardi B and the actor Bella Thorne. In fact, Thorne, who has an estimated net worth of between $5m and $12m, claimed to have made $2m within days of joining the site in August 2020.

The popularity of the website particularly exploded during the coronavirus lockdowns, taking its user base from 20 million before the pandemic to over 120 million, reported the Financial Times.

Once the pandemic came around and strip clubs started shutting, *** became so oversaturated because it was just every single sex worker, or just anyone in general, realising there was money to be made, content creator Brooklyn Rose was quoted as saying by the Guardian.

Founded by Tim Stokely in 2016, *** allows creators to sell their videos, messages and articles to fans at a subscription price anywhere between $5 and $50 a month, with the platform taking a share of 20 per cent from the payment made.

With more celebrities and athletes joining the platform, *** aims not only to offer a glimpse into the personal lives of the rich and famous but also to attract new advertisers who would previously have been sceptical of its reputation for adult content.

Typically it's the investors that want the adult content moved from the platform. They'll say they will give money only if certain content isn't on the platform. It's a bad decision in the long run because the platform is currently synonymous with adult content and connecting with fans so getting rid of that will only devalue it.

Yes and if they end up in the same "situation" then Patreon is objectively superior as a content creator simply because it allows for tiers, and everyone getting billed on the 1st of the month gives you a much better idea of your cash flow.

It all stems back to moral high ground political power, and probably at the mercy of the credit card companies. They do it to get investors and throw everyone else under the bus.

It's ok, there's sometimes a dark sad little secret that gets revealed in the process. I doubt you'd followed the sad plane crash that is AI Dungeon, but they got 3.3 mill in funding and at the end of April they basically threw all their users/customers under the bus claiming they were using it for shady pedophillic content. If you resisted/complained about the still to this day broken filter, you got called a pedo. Guess what? The damn developers and OpenAI themselves used pedophillic content to train the AI and instead cast the blame on the users when the AI itself will generate it. They also now auto-suspend users if the AI generates specific words like 'girl' or numbers. It's a real shitshow and none of this would have happened if they didn't decide to have a moral high ground because of less than 1% of the users doing it. Now everyone knows about it.

Btw, it's gotten far worse than just CP. They're also leaking/out sourcing users data and re-activating cancelled subscriptions on deleted accounts.

Honestly have you actually looked into it? Or just going by Latitude's word. Even most of the articles reporting on it are bullshit.
