I just saw the SJW film version with a female Prospero, Prospera. It was alright, nothing special. Felicity Jones was VERY pretty. Is this considered a minor or major play by Shakespeare?

The movie was good. Changing Prospero's gender didn't really harm the story any. Helen Mirran did a good job. Djimon Hounsou knocked it out of the park.

The problem with the movie is that it seemed the director didn't fully respect the subject matter. The play never needed CGI to tell the story. And they gloss over the crucial turning point in the story as though it were filler dialogue. When they get to the whole part where Ariel says, "If I were human," I'd completely missed it and had to rewind it. It wasn't framed like the pivotal moment that was going to make Prospera change her mind about seeking revenge. It was treated like idle chatter.
