I'm a little sad, but not unexpected at all, I actually can't blame NBC.

The premise of the show was a nice little idea but I don't think it managed to hook anyone and season 2 did feel a little like it was meandering and then quickly wrapping everything up in a neat little bowtie.

The fact that NBC gave it 2 seasons was nice of them. Wonder if the pandemic helped the show's chances for success with more people staying indoors watching TV or not.

It was about a woman who gets a brain injury and rhencsuddenly imagines people singing around her like in a musical. Basically it was an episode Scrubs did, turned into a full show

Yeah I kept waiting for them to reveal that she had a tumor or some similar affliction like her dad, but it's musically related. I was expecting it to be a bit more of a dramedy but that's not where they went at all, she just "has" these powers.

Well not just hears them singing, but hears their inner thoughts as song and dance numbers, its a mind reading power. I only saw the first episode, I adored the concept but I hated the song selection and not even my admiration for Jane Levy could make me put up with music I dont like.

It isn't even a matter of the songs being good, I just really dislike TV shows that do the musical thing and don't bother writing original songs. Like I was really looking forward to the Flash's musical episode, especially since they were using the Music Meister as the villain, but I didn't really want to hear Supergirl singing Moon River.

That sucks, I enjoyed it. I'm a sucker for a musical so I enjoy the rare "real life as a musical" style show like Zoe and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Lol so mean, I actually liked their rendition of Whitney Houston's song. I'm not typically a fan of music in general so it's usually something I just "tolerate" in an episode, and I do agree that I outright disliked a lot of the song selections. In Season 1 there was a bit more of "oh, I've heard of that song before!" or "hey I remember this song, ah the early 2000s haha"

But I guess when compared to Crazy Ex Girlfriend... yeah props to CExG for actually writing their own songs. Sure a lot of them are references to popular well known songs with the same tune but they're still hilarious and very well done.

I didn't really think to compare the 2 shows until someone else mentioned it. I liked to think of ZEP as a natural continuation of Suburgatory which also had Jane Levy.

I like the show a lot and have watched it since the beginning, but the last season ended terribly... so I'm not too broken up about it getting canceled.

Galavant had 2 short seasons a few years ago. The songs were by Alan Menken, aka the guy who wrote every Disney song from your childhood.

Oh man don't even get me started on Galavant. I watched the commercials for it when it first came out and though "eh, if it's ever on I might stay a couple minutes to watch it" but I had no idea just how hilarious, how smart, charming, witty and catchy it all was. Damn shame so few watched it, the show was fantastic and hilarious, easily my favorite of the ones listed.

Another Crazy Ex coincidence, the romantic interest of this show is the same one that later appears in CExG, and it shows how much he fits the look of the "romantic lead" role in romcoms
