My favorites are the ones that just start speaking as soon as the line picks up, so they're talking while your voicemail intro is playing and you get a message mid-conversation

Well, fax machines have been replaced by newer technology. What did voice mail get replaced by?

You have to answer and talk to a real person. Thats what I did and I was beyond unpleasant. Haven't gotten a call since

Typically the purpose of a call is a conversation, no? Anything they could say in a voicemail they can say in a text message.

Instead of robo calls bothering people, they should have Robocop:

You have one new message: "Stay out of trouble."

Most professional settings dont text, unless its a personal conversation lol. Plus, business that call you dont really text either unless its an automated text telling you your appointment is ready.

So you only answer calls from numbers you dont know if youre expecting a call? What is your window for answering all unknown numbers? Like if youre expecting a call from a doctor sometime within the next two weeks, will you answer all unknown calls within that window? or Do you like.. not answer any and wait and see if one calls back twice?

seems like it would just be easier to get a voicemail. I mean it doesnt cost anything.. is not a physical thing so it doesnt take up any space.. you dont even have to put your name on it, its just a thing that allows people to leave messages for you.

Doesn't really come up, I have most of the businesses, doctors, etc. that I use saved in my phone so I don't have to look them up? And if I get a missed call from a local number that might be important I'll call back, sure. But at least 50% of my incoming calls are bullshit spam. Having voicemail would just lead to more bullshit.

So you call back all local missed calls to see if theyre important? Or just some randomly?

Google exists, most businesses show up there when you google their phone number. You're putting way more thought into this than I ever do.

i used to have people comment on my voicemail not being set up, so i set it up and almost never check it. it's annoying as hell, the only notification on my phone i can't just swipe away. :/
You dont even have to listen to them, the phone transcribes them (best it can) for you, and then you can delete it straight from there
