I don't really like hip-hop most of the time. I do really like Kevin Penkin most of the time.

Mikazuchi is...fine. Feels like too much of the song hinges on just liking the loud/fast violin though, which I do not particularly. The Thief is really cool and not what I expected from a Binding of Isaac song at all, though I do like the Binding of Isaac music I'm familiar with also. Anyway this a very engrossing atmospheric piece and is easily good enough for the vote here.

I go back and forth on how I feel about the weird effects in Nilin and today I think I don't like them sorry.

MATCH 1

I really like these vocals! Honestly, I don't think anything else about this song compares to how good the vocals are. Not to say that the rest of the song isn't good, but those vocals pack so much emotion in them and that really appeals to me.

I'm Back to Rise is pretty cool too! Very hype music that sounds like it would make for good gym music. I'm not typically one to focus on lyrics a whole lot, so when I listen to something like rap or hip-hop, I tend to base a lot of my thoughts on a song on how much I like the instrumental. Here, there's a nice EDM base to the song with some funk or R&B sprinkled in. Pretty nice instrumental, which combined with a good rhythm makes for an enjoyable song. I feel like this would be something 2013 me would enjoy a lot if I owned this game. That was maybe a couple years after I was introduced to electronic music by a friend who showed me Deadmau5 music, which led me getting into stuff like Skrillex and Knife Party, and while they aren't the most comparable to I'm Back to Rise, I think they show how my taste at the time would've meshed well with this song.

I used to be really into Mikazuchi sometime last year or the year before that, and I'd listen to this repeatedly a lot. These days, I'm not as into this song, but it's still really good! I love that bright and energetic violin melody. My favorite Ar nosurge song is Hidra Heteromycin and it might even be fair to say that CIEL_N_PROTECTA is my preferred Ar nosurge song in the contest this year, but Mikazuchi definitely pulls its weight! It made its way to round 5 in my favorites bracket pretty easily.

I like the mood that The Thief creates. That loop starting at the beginning of the song that lasts throughout the whole song is really cool. It has the feeling of being slightly wistful, yet a bit ominous at the same time.

MATCH 3

2:10-2:18 is cool, but that's unfortunately the only positive thing I really have to say about Nilin. For the most part, this song just isn't my thing.

High Above the Land is no Strike the Earth, but it's a solid Shovel Knight song.
