There mind control only works in close proximity to their balls or their planet. You could just bomb the shit out their planet from orbit.

There is no good answer-- we have no idea what their numbers are, but they're incredibly powerful as the 3 in the cutscene can wipe out Reaper ships in orbit.

Sad joke is the reapers are based on them and starchild is their creation but arrogance and stupidity abound with how they went about it.
