I've mentioned this before but it feels like almost everyone I meet is on anxiety meds, antidepressants, or Adderall. I feel like theres significantly more societal pressures on people here and people are being low-key judged more. Like on the surface everyone has that southern hospitality but behind the surface they're judging and their opinion could be completely different than what they let off.

It didn't feel like this when I lived in the northeast or west coast where people are generally free to express themselves without judgement.

Yeah, pretty much. Most of us down here are just straight up miserable. There's also the opiate abuse, meth, booze, and us who use food for some sort of comfort. Though, I can't really imagine it being that much different everywhere else.

I just didn't feel this way when I lived in Nevada or California. I feel like people were able to be themselves without fear of judgement.

Sounds like you're just unhappy. I'm happy, but I'm more focused on my personal goals than what people who probably rarely ever think of me think about me. That's some high school shit

I hate it here, but mainly I dislike the people. I just think everyone is so fake. The whole "things to do" doesn't bother me at all.

But like I said, anecdotal but something I notice alot of is so many people are on anxiety or antidepressant medication. Much more than I've seen in other places.

*shrug*

I've lived all over the country, I wouldn't say southerners are particularly more fake than people anywhere else.

I'm a big believer that people are pretty much the same everywhere. Some suck, most don't.

My friend who moved to CO from rural Georgia said the same thing

He said there's a crab mentality too, people tried to bring him down and stop him from moving so much he eventually left in secret

Southern hospitality is just being an adult and playing nice to keep the peace.

Which is probably smart when everyone and their brother owns 3 guns at a minimum.

Not originally from the south but my grandad literally had 3 guns around his bed so no matter which direction he reached first if suddenly awaken boom he has a gun.
