Depressing...?
I don't follow. I have the opposite reaction, the cramped streets and buildings makes everything feel more "homely." I say this just having looked at pictures though. I might think differently if I ever get a chance to visit Japan. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

I don't like cramped areas either. I feel you TC. I like living in a city where I get the sidewalk to myself. I can't imagine having a dog there. Everyone would be accidentally stepping on it probably.

I get a similar feeling but not sure if it's for the same reason. It's a cool aesthetic and I really enjoyed what I played of the Yakuza games, the location played a big part. There's also something mentally draining about it all and these locations are designed to suck money out of people, there's also how cramped it all is. I get a sadness from mega commercial urban locations even if I often appreciate how they look.
