The on ramp is long so you can get up to speed as the cars on the interstate when you merge, so many people are baffled by this concept. I despise when people just flat out stop and the lane is open, treating the yield sign like a stop sign.

someone's never driven through Pennsylvania. our ramps are like 50 feet long.

No. You're supposed to accelerate to speed of traffic, regardless of how fast that is. Failure to do so makes you an objectively bad driver.

Yeah, it kills me, because then its a pain to merge because youre going 10-20 MPH slower than highway traffic.

A related pet peeve of mine: people who begin decelerating well in advance of their exit. There are off ramps for that!

A long time ago I drove an old diesel Mercedes, and it had some sort of problem with the fuel injector. No matter what I did, I couldn't get above 45 mph. The issue was intermittent, so it could strike as I was trying to get to freeway speed.

It sucked.

I took ramps that has a sharp right curve direct on to the freeway and those are hard to get up to speed quickly. Also there are ramps with red lights right at the entrance of the freeway that makes it hard to get up to speed quickly.

If there is adequate space to speed up to highway speeds, I expect people to enter at highway speeds. I do understand that some ramps are notoriously bad because of being a sharp curve, but those are more the exception than a norm.
