Tons of things I expected, a few I genuinely did not, and all executed fantastically. The plotline with millions wasn't awful but was definitely not up to the quality of the rest though, and felt like padding that added nothing.

Same. Was easily the worst of the trilogy of movies. Hope they end the Monsterverse and Japan gets back to making non anime Godzilla.

Not nearly. The movie would be far better without it, but it still holds up super well

Well the whole Godzilla story arc was just odd and wrong. The fight scenes were good and it seems if they used either Kong or Godzilla it would of worked but given what they gave us Godzilla was the piece they tried to fit in and it just did not work.

Childhood me is still bummed that I never got an 80's suit Kong vs. Godzilla, or a stop motion version.

if they didn't ruin everything with spoilers in the trailers it might have been amazing. But i will give them credit for not bitching out and giving us a winner. But otherwise, it was enjoyable and disappointing to watch it at home instead of a theater (especially for me because hbo max is super quiet for some reason, my soundbar is normally between 10-15 and i had to crank it up to 50). But the effects were mostly nice, oddly their 'blood' liquid simulations were probably the worse, but i'm always amazed at how good they get kong's fur to look. And the fight scenes were fun just like anyone who wanted to watch the movie wanted. They condensed down the human story to the extent they could, it still has to be there because no one but square enix wanting to show off their vfx team is making a full hollywood quality cgi 90-120 minute movie.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem, my tv is so quiet when watching it

I saw it in theaters and it was badass. Really enjoyed it and I don't usually go for popcorn flicks.

I would probably think it's just okay on my home TV.

I agree, it was a fun movie. It was still stupid and cheesy and the human side of it sucked but the effects were great and it absolutely delivered on the Godzilla vs Kong thing.

Growth spurt. tbf, they mentioned Kong was growing in Skull Island too.

I don't know why they made Kong suck so hard, it made the movie way worse than it could have been.

I honestly think Kong was pretty fucking badass, especially with his "axe". And I mean if anything Godzilla was nerfed to give Kong some form of edge in the fight.

I don't even remember them saying this lol. Was he smaller in the previous movie? I did think he was gigantic compared to previous king kongs... Like his finger was the size of a few humans

Visuals were great but I was confused they went with a campy style

I thought Kong won a round against Godzilla in the hong kong fight or something. But yeah I just noticed Kong pretty much lost most of his fights he was in lol. The badass part was him with his axe, especially at the end when he was chopping Mecha Godzilla to pieces.

He had a few good moments in that fight leading up to the big axe strike, and the guy says "looks like round 2 goes to Kong" or something, but it doesn't make sense with what we're show. Yeah, Kong got a good hit in (which was clearly given to him and makes no sense- Godzilla is shooting a face beam straight at Kong's chest, Kong blocks it with his axe in front of his chest while leaping through the air, then Kong raises the axe above his head...and Godzilla's beam follows the axe instead of blasting Kong in the chest? wat) which knocked them both down, but the very next thing we see of them is Godzilla getting back up again. So...okay, he knocked Godzilla down?

Kong's fighting style is cooler I'll give him that

the movie is everything I expected it to be: pretty much a generic action movie. Nothing here is interesting but if you just want to see some brainless fighting (because we all have those moods sometimes) then this can appease you.

I think you guys are missing that Kong was quite literally the protagonist of the movie, the hero, and he was written as the scrappy underdog who eventually wins the day. He even went through the classic heros journey of going to the underworld and gaining the magical weapon. So yeah, he gets a lot of beatins in the movie, he's Odysseus, before finally coming home and cleaning house at the end of the journey.

Well, this was definitely more of a Kong movie than a Godzilla one, which I appreciate. I mean, I like Godzilla, but... Kong is just too likable, imo.

It was okay. Nowhere near as good as Skull Island, nowhere near as bad as King of Monsters. The Hong Kong scenes were the highlight for sure, the ocean battle was garbage. Human scenes were awful, all the actors except Brian Tyree Henry were awful.

Kong gave an excellent fight. I don't know what people are saying. He drove Godzilla to the point he got desperate. He was evading the breath the whole time and clocked Godzilla right in the face several times. With round 3, Godzilla went straight wild and got on his fours and started biting Kong and started losing control.

Kong was never going to be the winner in Godzilla's own series. The whole point was to show that's he's number 1 but doesn't mind some secondary dudes as long as they know their place.

It is, but I took as a unofficial declaration of war from America towards Japan when it comes to Kaiju movies. Glad Kong's punk ass still lost though. Japan > America.

Of course a gorilla would beat a lizard in a real life fight because lizards aren't as big, or strong, but most importantly, lizards are cold blooded and don't have as much stamina as hot blooded mammals. The best the lizard could hope to do is give the gorilla is poison it and / or give it a nasty infection from a bite before it dies. What you are asking for and wanted to see in the movie was a lame, one sided fight you could probably find on youtube.

Pretty sure he meant Godzilla winning was the logical outcome. No reason to make an argument out of such a harmless comment lol

Character sucked but his acting was good. A little harsh because she's still very young but Millie Bobby Brown's American accent is really bad.

because the original King Kong movie predates Godzilla, and has nothing to do with the Japanese giant monster genre. If you brought Godzilla into Kong's universe, he would be more like the beast of twenty thousand fathoms.
