Strongly opposed to both. The country has begun to round the corner on C19 with mass vaccinations, and I believe now is the time to terminate all free handouts, raise taxes on the rich, cut welfare programs, reopen the economy, and pay down the debt.

I dont think its good for our country or the economy to keep people perpetually stuck in a cycle of dependency with handouts & welfare programs. Its time to put them on job training programs so they can learn how to take care of themselves.

The only arguments against a UBI are mathematics.
All redistribution exists solely at the grace and mercy of those redistributed from.

Promising to hand out free money won the Democrats Georgia & senate control. Free handouts is an example of policy thats extremely popular but bad for the country.

It may make people aware of UBI as a tangentially related concept, but it won't be a means of convincing anyone not on board with UBI of its merits.

The stimulus payments are meant to both be actual economic stimulus and financial relief, and the amounts given dont do shit to adequately provide for either. $3200 to last practically a year, and nearly half of it only started to show up literally yesterday.

It isnt equivalent to UBI; not in the timeframe it was disbursed, the amounts given, nor in its purpose. If that $3200 was done in UBI style, itd be less than $300 a month, and would have even less of an impact than the 3 singular payments did, and those had practically no impact at all.

Job training programs only work if there are sustainable careers for people.

We're at a point where we just don't need as many people working anymore

its been proven through similar programs that these types of payouts DO cause people to find full time work. sorta like how its been proven that sex education and free access to contreceptives DO reduce abortion and unwanted pregnancies.

but thats not the reason people oppose these things, is it?
