PS4s are worthless now. You should be able to get one pretty cheap. It's definitely worth playing Persona 5 Royal beforehand... Strikers is a new story, but it's a direct sequel and you're less likely to be invested in the world or its characters as it just hits the ground running assuming you played 5.

I love everything about it except the gameplay parts... I liked P5's gameplay, I like Warriors' gameplay. But with this I almost just would prefer a visual novel than the exploration and mindless brawling. Overall, I still think Strikers is good, but it's a 7 or 8 outta 10, not a 10 like Royal.

you fucking run a little bit, hit a tutorial, then kill everything with a single button press, and then repeat.

like holy fucking shit there's so many tutorials, just let me play the fucking game. why am i forced to sneak around, just let me fucking fight. the constant tutorials on how to do a variation of something i just did is obnoxious as fuck, and it happens one after another within fucking seconds of each other, and i just want to not play this goddamn game because that's infuriating to me.

I finished the first jail and I'm onto "badguy 2", but I think the biggest indication that I like P5 and P5R a lot more is the fact I basically got obsessed with them and spent all my free time powering through. I played this a bit the first couple of days and then have been playing other stuff instead.

Could somebody explain what the gameplay is like? I've been watching a little bit, and I might be able to watch more at work tomorrow. But I would like to know what kind of game play this is exactly...

I thought so, but from the short clips, it just seemed different. It might have been the few clips I saw, though. They only had like one monster. And Joker was jumping around using the environment to attack or something. I guess I need to find some more videos to watch to see if it'll fit my playstyle...

it's a warriors game, but it doesn't feel like one at all and is not traditional in the slightest

so the best way to sum it up is an action hack n slash persona game, except in the vein of a budget niche ps3 title

P5 was never known for its amazingly paced opening lmao so I guess you could say its faithful?

p5 gives you only a few tutorials and just lets you go off in the palaces

p5s lets you do the palaces...with a billion fucking tutorials, some for just variations on the same thing

What mode are you playing on? The first dungeon is gonna take some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, youll be mowing down baddies without trouble. I basically played the entire game on Hard and loved it (except for the first boss battle, where my losses werent my fault)

Use Yusuke. Critical hits are +++ in this game and he dishes them out like crazy. I basically carry the entire team without even switching from him.

Dont abuse your actual Persona Skills in normal battles. You want as much MP as you can have for the actual hard parts, the strings of fights close together, and the boss battles.

Every character/persona has 3 free spells in their combos, and knowing how to utilize them in battles is whats going to save your ass. Some of these free spells are even Mediarama/the level beyond it. So experimenting is important.

Dont waste bond points on the SP recovery skill. Its USELESS and youll gain at approximately 1 use of magic per 4 battles.

Someone said, "Every confidant has a final persona that can only be acquired by maxing out the confidant. Thus, if you are not able to max out every confidant, you cant make every persona (technically, 1 is locked behind ng+ so you wouldnt be able to get all the personas in one run anyway)."

Though, even if you could get everything in one run, I'm sure you couldn't on your first playthrough without a guide. A few other things I heard were:

- there are quite a number of minor missables like Hawaii trip has multiple dates with different rewards.

- you cannot fuse satanael until NG+ and it has multiple requirements to fuse. (which might have to do something with the first part I said)

- Well, you can miss a whole 3rd semester. (While this is achievable, it makes me wonder how people could have missed it)

- There are certain skills that can only be taught to specific teammates on specific days in the Jazz Jin, but you'll need a guide for the dates and skills and who to choose. (Again, able to get on the first playthrough, but apparently easily missable without a guide).

- Like say the arcade will change out the claw game prizes every so often, but it doesn't really matter if you miss one. The big ones are the confident ranks with certain ranks being needed for big plot stuff. (Same as both above).

Basically, most things are probably possible to get with the exception of the one thing that you need NG+ for. That said, many things seem to be easily missable without a guide. I think one guy has play P5 and P5R a collective 10 times, and has still missed stuff...

Its not that big a deal. The game gives PLENTY of time to do all your confidants to the point that if youre playing optimally (doing at least 1 thing related to stats/social stuff a day) youll be ahead of the game 9 times out of 10.

Its not open world at all. Its about as streamlined as you can get with lots of fast travel to speed up the daily grind.

battles are turn based and the main conceit of the game is that youre trying to complete dungeons on a time limit, and thus must clear dungeons in as few days as possible, which means conserving resources and fully taking advantage of the games weakness system so youre not dragging battles on longer than you need to.

if battles last more than 3-4 turns, theres probably something wrong with your team in this game.

Oh jeez. I'm not good with time limits. Like MM was fine because I could slow down and reset as needed... I'm going to take a guess and say the time limit is what's makes it hard to find everything hidden in the dungeon.

Also, you mention days. How does time pass in a dungeon. Is it just always passing? Or does it only pass during certain things? Like each turn in a battle or something?

You are always given plenty of time to complete the dungeon. For example, the first dungeon gives you around 10 days to complete. Time doesn't progress in the outside world until you exit the dungeon. Like, you could spend 3 minutes or 3 hours in the dungeon, and it will be nighttime when you exit either way. Later dungeons give you longer periods of time, so there should never be a worry that you'll run out of time.

Once you commit to an action like entering a dungeon, you can stay as long as you like in there and the day wont progress until you leave, so you could theoretically stay in there grinding for hundreds of hours on your first possible day*

*this would be difficult because dungeons dont have healing points.

and yeah, i know you can just leave a dungeon and just come back immediately, it's what i've been doing to heal my party. time doesn't actually progress until i hit specific plot points in the dungeon so idk what ya'll are talking about

and even then, if you just want to platinum the game, you don't even need to 100% the game

but you do definitely need to follow a guide if you've never actually played it before and want to do that. it's what i did with royals, because i was only there for the new content anyways so i just fast forwarded through everything i had already seen before.
