Purchased a GoWISE 7-Quart Electric Air Fryer with Dehydrator, brand recommendation from a coworker last night

Been debating on getting one for awhile and after talking about it last night, hopped on Amazon and it'll be here tomorrow.

Didn't want to spend a lot, the one I bought was only $75. Interested in trying the dehydrator, homemade jerky!

If you own one, which brand do you have? Are you happy with it? Any good recipes or tips?

Nice! I have a Ninja Foodi and Im very happy with it.

tbh I mostly just toss frozen foods into it, but kale chips are easy to make (toss with veggie oil and seasoning, then fry at 380 for ~10 minutes), and I found a janky donut recipe I enjoyed where you fry some of those Pillsbury Grand Old Biscuits at 360 for 6 minutes (flip halfway through), then brush on melted butter and cover them in cinnamon sugar. Roasted potatoes are also great, though mine have come out crispier than I would like. Maybe I should just do those in an oven.

Oh yeah, and in case you didnt already know, the manual for mine advised against using olive oil, as it has a much lower smoke point than veggie/canola oil.

Or just dont put the potatoes in as long? My coworker was saying even though it comes with instructions, youll have to experiment and figure out the best times yourself, the times in the recipes arent always accurate

Didnt even think about doing biscuits in the air fryer, biscuits and gravy errrrday!

I got a Ninja FD401 Foodi 8-Quart 9-in-1 Deluxe XL Pressure Cooker, Broil, Dehydrate, Slow Cook, Air Fryer, and More, with a Stainless Finish as a housewarming present and I basically use it for every meal now.

Granted it's also a pressure cooker (and all those other things) as opposed to just an air fryer so I use it for more, but overall it's great.

Recently got an Instant Pot Duo 7 in 1 and it's AMAZING! My wife and I pressure cook everything now, thing works so damn fast lol. Seems very sturdy and very solidly built.

Also own a Ninja Foodi 5 in 1. A big tip with air frying is be mindful of the type of oil you're using. You'll wanna use a high smoke point oil like coconut or Avocado vs a low smoke point like olive oil.

Easy recipe I use is for sweet potatoe fries. Basically peel and cut sweet potatoes, then let them soak for about twenty minutes in water. Pat them dry and toss in your oil. Fry at 375 for about five minutes, then shake the basket and fry another five minutes or until they're browned. Then season with salt and pepper.

---
I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was, and now what I'm with isn't it. And what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.

Some products are finally putting air frying times on them but Totino's pizza rolls are still tricky to not have the filling ooze out.

It's faster and more efficient due to being more compact.

Anything with a "wet" batter is just going to make a huge mess. Don't even try.

Any recipe for "fries" that starts with "preheat oven" has automatically failed.

Some people will try to tell you air frying is also healthier than deep frying, but eh.
You're spritzing the food with a bit of oil, if you even have to bother, instead of immersing it in a lot of oil.
It's not really "healthier", but instead "less disastrous".

2 chicken breast on 360F for 15 mins(per the instructions in the booklet)

Cut them open to make sure and they were still a little pink, so tried another 5mins and they were done. Juicy but probably not as juicy since I cut them open. This will be a trial and error experience for a little bit.

Start with sous-vide or similar, then use the airfryer to "finish" it.

Yes.
Or just boil them. Sous-vide is little more than glorified boiling anyway.

Nono, don't get me ground, sous-vide is amazing and much better than boiling considering how much boiling dilutes the flavor of a lot of stuff.
Fair.
Glorified double-boiler'ing, then.

I assume that's F?

I've tried frying stuff on a regular oven by gently covering/dipping them in different oils, results are just not close to actually frying. Convection ovens (which is what air fryers essentially are) are faster and give it a texture that much closely resembles actual frying, instead of roasting/baking.

It's also incredibly more convenient than deep frying, for obvious reasons.

Gotcha. I dont really eat much fried food and generally just roast veggies in the oven. Maybe Ill just keep holding off.

Get a digital thermometer. They're cheap and you won't ever under or over cook food.

I've been making breakfast frittatas with my air fryer recently.

Whisk 4 eggs in a bowl (season how you like, I use pepper and knorr chicken bouillon), put in your (already cooked) choice of protein and veggies into the whisked eggs, add cheese if you like, mix again thoroughly. Pour mix into lightly oiled small baking pan. Preheat air fryer to 360F and put that shit in for 18 to 20 min.
