Yeah, this is why so many anime fans prefer subs, because they don't understand Japanese so for all they whine about "bad dubs", they are incapable of hearing just how good or bad a job the Japanese cast is doing.

Does a sub being bad preclude an obviously bad dub from being bad? Like I haven't even seen japanese kill la kill but I can say with 100% certainty the dub is pathetically bad

Take Sekiro as an example I can feel is actually well-acted in Japanese tho. It's dripping with emotion. Half of the game's tone is in the acting. It's somber and soulful, with the odd moment of levity here and there. It can be eerie, comical, bombastic, but it's never anything it's not intending to be

Whereas the dub is...yeah, I'll leave it at that

Well, I thought she was good in Netoge no Yome (anime with a dumb long name in both English and Japanese) primarily because she used her regular voice...in addition to her usual high pitched one

Oh yeah, My Hero Academia too. Forgot about that show but I haven't watched it in a while

Probably a more controversial opinion ITP: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, specifically Part 1 and Part 2. The goofy accents just made them so much more enjoyable for me, and it made me sad when Part 3 toned down/removed the goofy accents.

Even more controversial opinion: parts 3-5 also had awesome dubs. The series is great either way though.

For the most part, Jojo's dub is great. The first season was fantastic with the accents and hamminess, and part 4 actually became somewhat enjoyable for me.

The only downside is that they aren't allowed to use half the characters' and Stands' real names due to copyright. Which is...you know, part of the series' entire personality, so I can't consider it a perfect dub because of that.

I'll go with cowboy bebop. Its one anime where the English voices actually feel much more fitting for the characters and story than in japanese

For a voice actor she has an awful voice. It would be like if a hand model had fucked up blistery hands, or if someone paralyzed from the waist down tried to run track. She is awful at what she "specializes" in. As I said, if she relocated to LA and nobody knew of her already, she wouldn't get any work.

Uh... no? Viz has been doing great dubs lately. The Jojo dubs are solid with great choices for voice actors. The only thing questionable is all the name changes, and that's pretty much unavoidable.

That's unavoidable. At least with the dub, you don't have the disconnect of the voice saying the original name while the subtitles are saying the copyright-dodging new name.
