Welp, that's not happening. She's insisting that it isn't germane to the reconciliation process(even before a ruling from the parliamentarian), which seems like nothing but a fig leaf to justify opposing what's supposed to be a Democratic priority, because she also opposes abolishing the filibuster or otherwise changing the rules of the Senate.

Stay home election day, then become baffled and confused why policy drifts backwards even more!! Because we all know drifting backwards is totally better than slow progress or nothing!

All or nothing!

I'd say the voters are the problem.

For example this relief bill includes a lot of stuff in it the GOP literally isn't supporting as the gop wants none of it. Yet many Dem voters will clutch their pearls if one or two things get 86'd from the bill, or amounts are reduced.

It's all or nothing mentality. So somehow some convince themselves it's a smart idea to stay home. The gop party that literally wants literally none of the stuff you want is better than the dem party that negotiates for a few of the things you want.

For what it's worth bernie actually agrees:
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/02/05/a-15-minimum-wage-is-out-of-the-latest-stimulus-package-for-now.html
In a surprise, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., supported Ernst's amendment, which is nonbinding. He spoke on the amendment to clarify that his plan, detailed in the Raise the Wage Act, is to gradually raise the federal minimum wage to reach $15 an hour in 2025 not immediately increase wages during the pandemic.

Because Bernie isn't willing to torpedo the whole stimulus over it, while Sinema probably is: he previously asserted it was germane.

How is this logic better than the GQP? She is against something in the bill and doesn't hive mind for the entire thing so she must be a DINO?

Minimum wage is a highly debatable issue in general.

I think most people agree with the idea behind it but its seen as a sin in economics for a reason. Same with rent control.

Sinema's argument is that it's got nothing to do with the budget not that she's against it. It was already removed from the budget proposal.

So the headline should actually read "Sinema opposes nuclear option for $15 minimum wage"

$15 minimum wage would destroy what few small businesses are left after Covid. The only reason to support it is if you want stores like Wal Mart to have a monopoly.

So she's what they called a DINO? Anyway, they gotta work on marketing the wage raise better instead of shouting 15 dollar at every moment. Talk about 9 dollars effective later this year with slight annual increments until reaching 15. Sure, thats pretty much what the bill says, but its all how you sell it to businesses and republicans who'll be the biggest opposition.

I think it's smart and good politics for Democrats to associate themselves with policies as popular as raising the minimum wage to $15. Some Democratic elected officials who are more concerned with purity politics than pragmatism disagree.

The GOP isn't going to allow any compromise that doesn't benefit them and hamstring Democrats. I'm tired of little fucking bitch Democrats. They need to grow a pair of balls or the GOP will continue to fuck them over.

The GOP has a great chance of taking back over in the next few years, so the Democrats should be throwing everything they can at the wall. Hard to make slow progress when you have to undo regress every 4 to 8 years.

Democrats are not even a hive mind like you want them to be. They do not all support your entire wishlist. It's crazy to sit here and set yourself up on this all or nothing attitude.

The GOP not wanting to compromise is boyend the point of thinking Dems should all hive mind to back your entire wishlist or else attitude.

You cant complain about 4 to 8 years of GOP regression when you don't vote. Little progression is NOT the same thing as no progression and regression. And you have folks who run around with that false equivalency using that all or nothing logic.

This has nothing to do with this bill in particular. Sinema has been anything but left since before she was a Senator. Shes essentially a neocon

Hey, did you know this argument has been used for every single debate about whether or not to institute or raise the minimum wage? Don't worry, one day it will be correct, I'm sure.

Florida voted overwhelmingly for a $15 minimum wage; do you think it's significantly less popular in Arizona, a state with two Democratic senators?

Do you think if there was a Republican (Martha McSally) in Sinemas seat, they would vote for $15 minimum wage? Like yeah she is far from being great, but the alternative is much worse.

The alternative, right now, is Sinema voting for the minimum wage increase. Her next election isn't until 2024; is she going to spend the next 4 years lording over the worse-ness of a hypothetical Republican replacement, or is she going to get on board with a policy that has support from a majority of her state's voters?

I voted, anyone in America can and should criticize their government regardless of who they voted for, and if Republicans like nothing, then why cut anything from your own bill?
