Like if I crash on the highway due to snow or ice, and no one else is involved. My inclination is to pull off to the side of the road where its safe if possible, and call my insurance company. Does that sound right or do I call the police first even if its only me involved in the accident?

cant believe I dont know this lmao

It depends really, if something happens to your car, and you can't start it, or it stops running, and it's cold enough for there to be snow and ice, it's entirely justified to call the police due to the fact that you are in freezing conditions without a heat source.

You should always keep a bag of cat litter in your trunk as part of your emergency kit. If you slide off the road and simply get stuck, you can pour cat litter in front of the tires for traction and it can get you out of a situation like that without needing assistance.

This guy I went to high school with I just found out died a week ago after offroading and getting stuck on a couple foot high snowbank.

His girlfriend and young baby were found a mile from the vehicle where she was trying to make it back and froze.

The guy had coke on him in the car but his girlfriend didnt...shitty way to go knowing youve got your baby with you.

They found them a few days later after the snowstorm had passed.
