reason being is because MGSV kind of leaves you empty. Even if you did play the original metal gear 1 and 2 games

MGS4 just gives you a better send off and conclusion

Funny, four is the only one I havent played. I was far, far more interested in Big Boss than Solid Snake. I started with MGS3, then played Peace Walker, then MGSGZ/V.

I did end up playing 1, and 2, but they just werent the same to me.

I say play them in order and maybe skip Peacewalker.

I played 3, peacewalker, 4 and 5 for the first time last year.

Edit: Played MGS1 a ton since it was new, played MGS2 when it was new. Replayed those last year also.

And I liked PW because it was a good transition into the actual Big Boss from Naked Snake. Showing how he becomes a legend (moreso than the events of 3) and how he started becoming more of a leader of men and ideals.

4 i think is too cinematic for gamers to play. Its almost like kojima wanted to make interactive movie staring snake that was too old and too tired to exact his revenge against the patriots, Liwuid ocelot. The stealth of these games is too noisy and lacks the elegance of the previous metal gear franchise. It wants to be everything but failed to deliver spectacularly. Kojima breaking the vary rules of a sneaking mission with its constants waifu boss fight which just nods to original metal gear without any substance that drebin just spouted about the sobs story of the bb units that has become a routine of its own. Snake really have no enemies here except the shadowy figures in the name liquid ocelot. Vamp just reduce to another tragic villain along with noami hunter who killed herself for no reason after making out with the yet another sad otakon which really need to have yet another woman he love died for another shock value. Comd on kojima u cant fo this to us metal gear fans. Even metal gear survive understood fanservice better than u.

PW is better than V in every single way besides movement mechanics and your tools. PW provides more interesting oppurtunities to use the tools it does have though, the story is better, the maps are better, the characters are better, it is Metal Gear Solid 5 as far as I'm concerned.

PW doesn't have any bosses except for gears... And in order to outfit your own MG you have to repeatedly fight them over and over again

MGS V should be saved for last because the gameplay is the best in the series. You're not really doing much for the story by swapping 4 and V imo.

Also, no, TC. There are very few exceptions to the rule of playing in release order, and MGS is NOT one of them.

Playing 4 before V lets you appreciate 4 without V's dumb twists getting in the way of it and making it dumber.

4s twists are dumber than V if we're gonna be real
