Thats the fourth person in my network to reach out to me in the last few weeks. He knows I go on leave soon but still wanted to chat to see if Id want to join their company when I get back.

I think all the local companies are hearing about what a shit show my company is now and are like sharks in the water lol

Its almost like other tech companies see the value in a tech recruiter with an actual tech background lol

My company keeps taking that for granted somehow. But I make what I do seem easy I guess.

People have been quitting my company in mass numbers lately. Other companies are hearing about it. 2 of the people who reached out to me are people who worked with us before and know me, one had a team member who did and spoke highly of me, this last one made an offer to me before I chose my company instead and recently someone from my team quit and went there instead.

I think my own company worries I will leave and thats why they are choosing not to promote me now. Which just makes me want to leave when I didnt before.

Sounds like you can make some big demands at your current job
Nope. The company we merged with calls the shots now and they have explicitly told HR that there will be no counteroffers to people leaving. I know because I was close to one of the HR managers, who also quit a couple of weeks ago.

Also, anyone who is going to a competitor is now let go the next day, even if they give a two week notice. And they arent paid. I know several people who have been with the company 5-10 years who put in their two week notice and were let go next day.

I think new company wants to push everyone out and replace them with cheaper labor tbh.

It's a tech company right? They're definitely outsourcing to India.

Either that or trying to get less expensive employees. I know for a fact that their pay is much lower than ours (I recruit for them too now). Their bonus structure is also much lower. Probably just see us as a money sink. Which is funny because they wanted us because we do better than them with our products and have a better brand.

Well how about negotiating a pay raise? Make them fight to keep you.

Supposedly thats what my boss is trying for but Im not hopeful. Also, its not about a raise to me. Ive been vocal about wanting to get promoted for years now and they keep stalling or moving goal posts. These other companies pay better so why fight to stay for a company that doesnt value me?

I might be misremembering, but didn't you recently switch companies and then go back?

Yeah I had left for about 6 months. They practically were begging for me to come back and I explicitly told them I wanted a path to promotion. Which they swore up and down they would address and work with me on. We developed an entire plan for the year that I stuck to. They came up with a leveling guide that outlined specifics and Ive been doing exactly what it says. But the merger happened and now they are saying the other company wont approve it and wont give me any real reason why. Its because Im going on mat leave but they cant say that. Instead Im told to try again next year. Nope, not going to keep grinding that hamster wheel. I gave them a second chance and Im not giving a third.

Call went super well. We will reconnect in August but they said they are growing and need heavy hitters like myself. Tons of opportunities for career growth and leadership which is what I want. They are a startup but backed with a ton of money.

when do you go on maternity leave? timing actually works out perfect for you, you can collect checks while seeing how things shake out at both your current and potential new place

4.5 weeks but they are trying to give me as much shit work to do before I go and dangle a promotion next year as my reward. Like jokes on them, I will face roll until I go and have them pay me while I line up other shit lmao.

I was at the hospital the other day for early contractions from whats most likely stress. I am not going to risk my child for this shit company.

They just tried to offload more shit on me and I just said no lol

The part about being let go the day after giving two week notice seems really illegal...

We are an at will state so its perfectly legal. They also are not required to pay the two weeks either. Its shitty to do though and most companies dont. But this is a shit company so
