SNES. It was perfect for that console.

I nearly voted for the GameCube controller, but that was really just due to my love of Smash. Its awkward with other games. The Wii U Pro and Switch Pro controllers are both really good in their own rights. The Wii U one in particular could hold a charge forever.

Gamecube. The tiny directional pad is kind of unecessary but otherwise its terrific.

Nintendo should just licence use of either xbox or ps controllers. Nintendo controllers are akin to fisher price toys. But they are kinda stuck, they have to make one that's good for little children and adults alike.

Gamecube controller is pretty bad too. And hideous.

Realistically Nintendo's best controllers are the ones that don't deviate too much from the SNES layout

Switch pro controller is the most comfortable controller of any system I've used, and if it had analog triggers it would be maybe the best.

The NES controller looks so simple but dont forget it probably saved gaming. Everything before it was a joystick mess. The NES set the roadmap to everything you have now.

I don't like how the SNES controller feels in my hands; I can never figure out what to do with my fingers. The Wiimote is barebones, but it fits the hand perfectly well.

nes is good and utilitarian but too small, snes is basically the perfect platformer controller. n64 is bonkers and not bad for games not specifically designed for it, gamecube feels nice but has problems in certain ports made for other stuff like Tony Hawk. Wii Mote is utter crap, and I don't like how either the Wii U or the Switch feel. Especially the Switch analogue sticks

Now that I think about it, Nintendo has had way more misses than hits with controllers

Best: SNES controller

Worst: N64 because of the faulty joysticks and weird design. GC is 2nd worst. People only like it because it's not the N64 controller. Still a very mediocre controller.

Snes or N64.

So many great games on the snes.
But I also loved the N64 for the THQ/AKI wrestling games (American and imports).

SNES rounded off the rough edges of the NES controller, kind of literally. It was a great controller, but there's a reason everything afterward is a bit rounder and less prone to causing blisters. GC controller always felt more of a toy. I'd give points to the Switch but drift is too frequent an issue. N64, ahead of its time, but come on, it's layout is wrong and every controller since has much better layouts for the d pad and analogue stick.
