The end of a message i received was talking about auto renewal and call if you dont want that so i called just to see what it was.

Indian guy saying "your anti virus computer services". I was like "Who? You have a name right? Your company has a name right? If im paying you or auto renewing im sure you and your company have a name."

He essentially repeats himself.

"This is the worst scam call ever. At least make up some names or stop calling me"

"ok"

What a bad or weird scam.

I just noticed: my phone did pick them up as a scam but it still allows them to leave a robot message if they want and the message id doesnt identify them as a scam but just by the number.

I have been receiving a HUGE influx of then since the pandemic started (got a handful a month before, now it's a few a day).

Just accept the call, and say "Previet?" And they hang up. Its Russian for hello and and they fuck off real quick.

Got it down to 1 every few days doing that. But... that's the best I can do. Or silence your phone between certain hours; I do 3rd shift so they always woke me up till I started doing that.

I liked when I was called twice in the same day by the same number with the same message. They got the block but hey at least it actually was my second call this time.

You cant.

Best thing is to just ignore them and send them to voicemail if you dont know a number. If its important they will leave a voice mail.

If its just a scam call, report it as spam. The numbers are spoofed so it wont do a lot, but if they use the same number again your phone may auto block it. Mine does, so hopefully others reporting the numbers as spam updates some database and fucks that spoofed nuber.

The worst thing to do is try and engage them on your own number. That might piss them off and have them target you.

You can get a call protection app or enhancement from your carrier. I know AT&T and T-Mobile have it, its been a while since Ive had them but Im sure Verizon does too.

There is a feature they can enable or possibly you can enable in their apps/site, but also they may have an app or feature you can pay for (I know sucks but for extra control).

AT&Ts is Call Protect (theres a Plus subscription with it thats $3.99/mo). The essential blocking options of Fraud Risk, Spam Risk, and Unknown Callers is free but sometimes I have to quickly go in and turn off Spam Risk for a legitimate call from a doc or such.

This is the IRS. You need to call this number immediately, or you could be arrested.

I get a call with this message like once every 6-12 months, but when I get it, the number calls me like 4 times in an hour or two. Then it goes away for another 6-12 months.

I haven't gotten any scam calls in months. When I did, my favorite thing was always to tell them to hold on for a bit, then just set the phone down and go do something else. See how much time they waste before disconnecting.

I like to fuck around with them. Make up addresses and credit card numbers.

I had a utility change scammer going for like 2 months calling me about it and intentionally fucking up the prompts to change my service for an address that doesn't exist.
