Babbitt was killed when she tried to climb through a broken window on a barricaded doorway chamber of congressional officials and was shot in the neck by an officer They say the unnamed lieutenant should be cleared of the killing which they say was justified The Justice Dept will ultimately decide whether or not to press charges It was always felt that unlikely the officer, who was in the last line of defense between the rioters and the politicians huddled inside would be charged as prosecutors must able to prove not only that an officer used excessive force but also that the officer willfully vioalted someone's constitutional rights The officer who shot her told the NYT that there was utter confusion and he feared the rioters were about to access the chamber when he pulled the trigger The officer says he did nto know there were 3 officers guarding the door and only seen a crowd advancing. Another officer who is put on leave pending an investigation also did not know that a tactical team was on its way to help clear out rioters He said he used tables and chairs to barricade the door in the highly restricted area and had 31 rounds in his gun as he also thought he heard gunfire elsewhere in the capitol siege Babbitt became a MARTYR for Trump Supporters who held vigils in her memory She went on a deranged rant before the riot on how the liberals were going to destroy the country with socialism and turn them into a 3rd world.
