ever since I got Covid, I've been a lot more calmer about the situation. I swear that the anxiety surrounding covid caused me more harm than the actual disease it self. I know that I was extremely fortunate that me and my entire family only got mild symptoms (especially since you never know how this can affect you until you get it and my parents aren't young folks anymore) and I thank the preemptive measures me and my family did to try and prevent and to treat Covid 19 if we ever got it. (Hella vitamin D, C and Zinc, lots of tea/water, severe flu medications, that oxygen fingertip monitor thing to check if our oxygen was ever low)

We'll still wear masks and social distance once we're off quarantine, and get the vaccine once it's available to us. But I'm graceful that it's been a mild virus for me and my family.

I'm just assuming I got it last February when everyone was still acting normal for a month even though it was in NY.

Good for you but for many people it hasnt been mild and this topic seems in bad taste especially with that topic title.

It killed my 64 year old father on Christmas day. My uncle, who was business partners with him, got very sick. My mother caught it from my father and barely got sick. 97 year old relative got it and barely got sick.

Since it struck my family, I have been much more anxious. I assumed my parents would get it due to their work in healthcare and retail business. But I never imagined it killing any of them.

For me it's the complete randomness factor it has that bothers me the most. I know a few dozen people who got it, and no two experiences were the same for them. Some were completely asymptomatic, others had nasty coughs and fevers, and others still, had to be hospitalized.

I personally have about zero worry about it in regards to my own health. It'll be annoying, but I'll likely be fine.

However, seeing what things are like in almost every other part of the world, I'm very much worried about what would happen to society in general here if we had another major outbreak - especially if it was on the scale of the April one (we could probably get through another August-sized one).

This for me. Obviously it can kill anyone so that's the main concern, but if you get passed that, the long term shit hangs on.

Never had it. Fingers crossed. The neurological shit is scariest to me. People are having issues with depth perception. We have no idea what the this motherfucker does.

Idk about everything on that list but isn't it well documented that there's a correlation between people who are hospitalized and lacking in vitamin D?

I treat covid patients every day in the ICU. I can tell you anecdotally that a large chunk of our ICU patients are between mid 20s and mid 50s. Certainly much more than there were in April. Back in April I had a few young patients in their 20s and 30s...they were morbidly obese (BMI 50+) with untreated sleep apnea, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Right now the 20s-50s people are just normal people. Its scary cuz we see ourselves in these people. Just normal body, maybe some high blood pressure being treated with 1 pill, no diabetes, no other medical problems.

And when I say they're sick, I mean they are pretty much on maximum ventilator settings and/or ECMO.

Its honestly scary.

Not entirely incorrect. But that does not mean one should not mask up.

Hell it works for more, it blocks some of that other shit, too.

Corona free here. My trick is to dip your mask in rubbing alcohol before putting it on and going outside. It stops the corona particles from leaking inside.

Simple dishwashing soap does the trick. As I understand it, the virus shell is basically like olive oil. But you do you and stay safe.

my neighbor succumbed to it during the first major wave back last March, and I didn't know about it until like July He was a good man and neighbor. very friendly and always asked about my work and school. really hard to believe he is not there. he looked like he was in relatively good shape for his 60s too.

i really hope they get more supply of those shots soon. i don't want to end up dead or on a ventilator unless i really had to for survival purposes.

willing to take the johnson and johnson version. if that's all they have (high risk but low risk because i don't play those risky games being out in public).
