Current Events > Can someone explain WandaVision to me? (***SPOILERS***)

What I mean is, Ive skipped some of the Marvel films (including Ultron) and dont really know these characters at all. Im loving the show but it feels like Im missing some lore. Like I dont even really know the powers that Wanda nor Vision have (outside of what has been shown in WandaVision).

Well I just watched them as they came out (or when they reached libraries, at least) and for whatever reason missed a few. I guess I could watch them now but I just feel like theyd be a letdown after seeing their culmination in Infinity War/Endgame.

Although, yeah, it does look now like the culmination is ongoing. So maybe I should.

It's not much. Wanda and Pietro are twins that lost their parents when they were kids because of an attack. The attackers had used missles sold to them by Stark.

When Loki attacked NYC in Avengers, he left behind his scepter, that Hydra took. The scepter held the Mind Stone in it. Hydra harnessed that to give Wanda and Pietro power.

Since they hated Stark so much, they joined forces with Ultron when he was activated.

Jarvis, Tony's butler AI, tried to stop Ultron, but was "destroyed". Ultron wanted to create a new body for him infused with the Mind Stone, but the Avengers stopped all that, and Jarvis was downloaded into the new body instead. That is Vision.

Not much after that. Pietro died in Ultron and then Civil War happened and Wanda took Steve's side and then Vision and Wanda fell in love and left till they saw the Children of Thanos attack NYC in Infinity War.

Wanda and Vision are both "born" of the Mind Stone. Captain Marvel was "born" of the Space Stone. Monica Rambeau is the little kid from Captain Marvel.

Im the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Wanda (the Scarlett Witch) can do magic. She also does some mind control/illusion magic when she first shows up but they pretty much drop that entirely after her initial appearance in the Ultron film, so she just has strong magic powers now. Note that in other media her powers are a bit different, but I dont think that matters for WandaVision.

In the MCU, Vision is basically a sentient robot who can fly, change density (either to hit really hard with a more solid density or to phase through solid matter by becoming less dense) and he can also shoot laser beams out of the stone in his forehead.

He and Wanda dont really get a lot of development in the MCU, so WandaVision is kind of our first more in-depth look into these characters, beyond about five minutes of some interaction in Infinity War.

This topic reminds me of how dirty wanda and vision were done up until wandavision.

Vision was really done dirty. He has a promising start in AoU with the final blow on Ultron, he's in a vibranium body and powered by an infifity stone. In civil war his highlight is shooting the wrong guy. Infinity war he is straight booty and now he may end up dying for the third time. Glad Bettany got to reprise the role, he's a good actor done dirty up until Wandavision.

Wanda didn't have it much better. A different accent every movie. The romance between Wanda and Vision is so out of no where in the movies. One scene they are engaged in mortal combat firing kamehamehas at each other (civil war) and the next time you see them in infinity war they are in love, so in love that they would risk half the universe for it. I also love that Wanda goes from beating Thanos 1v1 to 60's sitcom

Highly recommended for wandavision: Age of ultron, civil war, infinity war, endgame

recommended for wandvision: captain marvel (can be watched anytime before endgame)

Honestly I don't feel legends is helpful. It just took all their scenes and put them together with epic music
