Social media platform censoring Donald Trump is the easy call because it is the right thing to do. It also doesn't run afoul of the First Amendment.

I want to know what CE's thoughts are with regard to the federal and state government taking proactive steps to prevent the spread of misinformation, which definitively triggers the First Amendment and is a more interesting debate.

if the misinformation leads to a criminal conduct, then it's should be treated as a crime. but for dumb things like flat earthers, just let them being stupid until they do actual harm.

I don't know why social media companies are that different from other forms of media. IMO they should be held responsible for spreading knowingly false information just like other forms of media are.

If they are making money from from everything people do on their platforms they should also have some responsibility for the content.
