I don't do outpatient internal medicine anymore but I can't think of any medical condition where you have to be on an organic-only diet. I can't think of any condition where you have to eat organic grass fed chicken and not standard non-organic chicken. You can tag all the healthcare professionals on this board and ask them as well.

No clue. The only things I can think up are if he has Celiacs and a lot of the "processed" foods he likely demonizes have gluten filler? Or if he has a corn or soy allergy, causing a reaction to a lot of common food additives?
I've had patients at my hospital that have had corn/soy/egg/dairy/etc. allergies all at once and it looked like a mess trying to see what they could order from room service. One time there was a patient with all those allergies and the parents insisted on trying to get the kid into ketosis (I'm pretty sure it was a congenital heart center patient -- if it was a pediatric neurology patient they would've been assigned a keto dietitian); obviously I contacted the RD to talk to that family.
But even though they're listed in the 6 most common food allergens -- soy and corn allergies don't come up that often, especially in tandem. That being said, the inclusion of food additives doesn't necessarily mean the food is GMO, non-organic, etc.
The family probably just wants their SnOWFlAkE to eat what they perceive as healthfully in prison. Coming from having had involvement with different CSAs/farmer's markets/etc. a lot of people into food activism fall in line with libertarian politics surprisingly.

Edit: This just screams food classism to me without knowing the finer details.

Fretting over domestic terrorists not having their preferred snowflake foods in prison is weird. Sure hope you have at least that same level of concern and empathy for the people he was a part of murdering that day.

It's probably just him being an asshole, but specialty diets that actually exist should be able to be requested on the off chance the prisoner has such a condition/religious requirement. That there have been incidents of asshole prison personnel harassing Muslim prisoners doesn't really change that.

theres a difference between a dietary need and a dietary want. Part of the reason they are in prison is to be punished.

Ultimately irrelevant. Prison shouldn't be about making them suffer needlessly and rather rehabilitation and someone like this can definitely be rehabilitated. Meeting a food preference seems fine and I have no issue with any prisoner being allowed a choice in their food.
